Periodontal Care
Quality Periodontics
Periodontal diseases are infections that affect the gums and bone that surround the tooth. As the infection progresses the gums develop “pockets” around the tooth and also can cause bone loss in the area. The “pockets” around a tooth should not be deeper than 3 mm to maintain healthy gums and teeth.
At Mankato Family Dental, we help people that are affected by gum disease. Schedule an appointment by calling (507) 345-5972.
Periodontal Treatment
We also offer Arestin™ as an additional medication to help combat the gum disease. Arestin™ is a localized antibiotic that is placed in the pockets to promote healing.
People with gum disease require more frequent visits to the hygienist. Periodontal maintenance appointments are usually done at 3 to 4-month intervals. Maintaining your gum health is very important to us, and we want you to be able to keep your teeth for as long as you can.
We work very closely with the periodontists in the area to make sure you are getting the best care and treatment for your individual needs.
